Acadia Competition

This was our entry for the 2007 ACADIA International Competition, awarded an honorable mention for a cultural institution in Nova Scotia, Canada. Located on a cruise ship pier, the design draws inspiration from the monumental forms of docking ships and the fractured geometry of distant icebergs toward which they sail.

In the era of global warming where spectacles of melting glaciers are joyfully catered to purveyors of mass tourism, it made perfect (non)sense to design a glacier-sliced-by-a-cruise-ship building.
