"Mennyezet", a biophilic outdoor stage for the arts
Mennyezet is a multi-disciplinary project formulated by Studio Vural with a diverse team of environmentally conscious professionals & artists. With our project, we aim to foster abundant vegetation, ecological balance and biodiversity within the built environment.
Mennyezet (“canopy” in Hungarian) is a modular canopy structure with a green roof that can be installed on any surface and configured numerous ways. The recycled plastic lumber frame is covered in seasonal vegetation over modular blocks. It has a modular stage below for performances. Small solar lights enable night-time use. The form is simple yet playfully versatile.

Mennyezet has a 20’ by 50’ footprint, fabricated in 5’ segments—easily delivered to any site for assembly. Once the structure is assembled, the green roof (with any species of plants or flowers) is installed. It can be permanent or temporary. At disassembly, the growing medium and plants are planted elsewhere, the segments separated, and the Mennyezet kit is stored in a warehouse.

Mennyezet speaks through its colors and textures that transform with natural cycles. It is a testament to a pluralist, multi-cultural, post-humanist world, where humans don't dominate but integrate.
A few examples of Mennyezet’s versatility are in our video, enjoy hang tight for its creation in a venue near you.
