Studio Vural was founded in 2009 by Selim Vural, a Turkish-American architect with a BArch degree from Mimar Sinan University in Istanbul & an MArch degree from Pratt Institute in New York.
While working for his family architecture firm, Selim spent four years studying masterpieces of Byzantine and Ottoman architecture in Istanbul. During these years, he learned much about his craft from his father Oral Vural and his professor Cengiz Eren.
In 1993, Selim moved to NY to pursue further education in arts & architecture. Following his MArch degree at the Pratt Institute, he obtained twelve years of experience in prominent firms such as; Eisenman Architects, Skidmore Owings and Merrill and Swanke Hayden Connell, leading to Studio Vural's foundation.
In addition to practice, Selim taught architectural studio classes at the University of Arkansas, NYIT and Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute.
Selim and his staff have been designing and innovating in their Brooklyn office. He lives in Crown Heights with his wife and son.
